It’s become a tradition to have  Thanksgiving with my wife’s family at their ranch.  It’s a lot of fun and great food.  Basically everything Thanksgiving is supposed to be.  Conditions haven’t been great for grabbing photos but I did catch this one which I really liked.  This one taken looking north late in the afternoon across a pond that’s on the ranch.  I did a little bit of post processing, but not much.  This was shot at ISO 200 1/200 second at f9.0. I used my 18-135mm lens set at 35mm.

Thankful for the beauty that surrounds me every day.

Here are a couple of pictures I took today while we were driving to Dugway today for a nice early brisk outdoor meeting.  I took these with my Galaxy phone and did some editing in Lightroom and Photoshop.  Most of the editing was done in lightroom 3.

Driving from Dugway over Johnson’s pass there’s this great little free form water sculpture made here in the middle of nowhere. Someone left the water on for livestock or something.  I realize the picture is not very well composed, but considering I couldn’t see the screen on my mobile phone when I took the picture….

Well, since the season is rapidly coming to a close here’s the rest of what I quickly processed from last nights shoot of the Christmas lights at Temple Square.  I usually post over several days after a shoot, but it’s late so not this year.  I took several of a couple of the nativities set up at Temple Square.  One of the Assembly Hall and others of the Salt Lake Temple.  I won’t go into detail about how they were shot and etc.  I’ll tell you that I used Photomatics, Lightroom and Photoshop to process the photos.  These are all HDRs done in Photomatics and the Panoramas were put together in Photoshop.  I use Lightroom to keep track of all the photos and do some quick edits – great software.  Anyway, hope you like them.

We had some real and heavy snow last week end.  I posted pics of my granddaughter in it…well kind of in it.  I also took a couple of pics just of the heavy snow.  I did adjust the exposure slightly in Lightroom.

Got up this fine Sunday morning to a very strange noise.  The scene got stranger as I investigated.  I had to take a picture.  My neighbors couldn’t resist using the snow blowers one more time.  I hope it’s the last!  Come on Spring!  Personally I plan on letting the snow melt.

Got a really good snow storm last night.  I went out about 10 pm and snapped a picture, it looks like we’re growing cotton or something.  As I’m posting this it’s about 5 pm the next day most of the snow is almost gone.

Not really Christmas in August, but I was just going through some old photos again and came across this one.  I really like it so I thought I would share.  This was taken in the Washington DC area in 1975.  This much snow in DC is very uncommon.
