Twice into Yellowstone is unusual, but when you have a lifetime pass…why not?  I really wanted to get over to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone again.  We found a really awesome picture of Janis and Chris there taken in about 1980 and I just wanted to go again.  Janis and I had a great time and saw some wild life, found parking easily everywhere we went and we had awesome angry sky and it all worked out to a nearly perfect day.  I’ve got shots of the Upper and Lower Falls on the Yellowstone River and then on the way back we did one of those one way side trips and visited the Virginia Cascade on Gibbons River.

Just shooting random pics while waiting for everyone to finish there shopping and misc. breaks.  This is a single shot HDR’d in Lightroom.  The exposure was .6 seconds at f8 ISO 200 hand held.

Old Faithful Inn

I told you to zoom into the picture in my last post.  Well turns out that didn’t work so good.  I’m posting a single picture this time.  It’s twice the size as yesterday’s pictures – so I hope you can see the water drops.  The downside is that it will take longer to load.  It really is pretty cool.  Really it is.

Old Faithful Big

How many times do you watch Old Faithful before you get tired of it?  Never!  So if you don’t mind or even if you do here’s more photos of Old Faithful.  I want to say right off that you need to zoom into these and take a close look as the sun glints off of each droplet of water!   It’s really amazing – right place, right time.  The first five pictures are of the initial eruption which started at 1:07:29 ending at 1:07:38  pm.  Can I just say how much fun meta data is?  I took lots of pictures.  I’ve only shared a few here.  The last picture taken was at 1:08:16.  The eruption was winding down and ended about 1:11:12.  At least that’s when I stopped taking pics.  We had a ranger giving us a presentation about how it all works and cute little Emily (my granddaughter) kept going over and asking questions.  She’s three and I thought it was pretty cute.

You may recall that we went searching for fall color last week and found some.  We ended up in Evanston and had a nice dinner.  Then, when it was completely dark, very windy and beginning to rain I found the Evanston train station.  Well, I’m required by some kind of weird self imposed rule to take a picture regardless of conditions.  I was freezing to death and most of the shots didn’t turn out because the wind apparently was causing my tripod to move during my one and two minute exposures.  Well, this one turned out!  6 shooter HDR and no noise in the black sky.  It’s a miracle!  It’s Wyoming so it a 6 shooter not a 6 shot HDR just in case you were wondering.
